Article Date
July 13, 2023

Considering recently released Illinois Department of Health guidelines and the current county spread of COVID-19, the Chatham Area Public Library will be returning to Contactless Curbside Service until further notice. We hope that we can help answer questions you may have here about this service change, and, as always, please feel free to call us at 217-483-2713 or email us at [email protected] with any questions.

How will the Contactless Curbside Service work?

Contactless Curbside Pickup works in 3 Easy Steps:

  • Order - Request your items through our online catalog, through our Request Form, or by calling the Library at 217-483-2713.
  • Call - Once you receive a notification (via email, text, or phone call) that your items are ready for pick up, just pull up near the Library’s main entrance, during our business hours, and give us a call at 217-483-2713 to let us know you’re here. You can also call in advance to let us know when you're coming or that you're on your way.
  • Pickup - Please stay in your car, pop your trunk or roll down your passenger or back window, and a staff member will place the items in your car.

What are the Contactless Curbside Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • Friday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Where should I go when I arrive at the Library to pick up my items?

Can I return items?

Our Outdoor Book Drop will remain open 24/7 to accept returns. You are welcome to return DVDs using the Outdoor Book Drop. Please note that items will continue to be quarantined for several days after being checked in, and any fines accrued during that time will be waived.

What are you doing with items once they're returned?

We have developed a process for safely accepting library items back through our Outdoor Book Drop involving a several day quarantine periodPlease note that, because of this process, your item(s) will remain on your account several after they've been returned. No fines will accrue on your items during this quarantine period, and Library staff will contact patrons with any questions at the time of check in.

Can I use a computer?

At this time, patrons can call to reserve a time to use a computer.  Computers can be used for up to 15 minutes.

Are you accepting donations at this time?

No. Due to health and safety concerns related to the processing of donations, we are not accepting donations at this time.
