Early Voting

Early Voting for the November 5, 2024 General Election, begins on Thursday, September 26th and ends on Monday, November 4th.  

Vote by Mail

Vote by Mail for the November 5, 2024 General Election, ends on Thursday, October 31st.  Please note that Thursday, September 26th is the first day to mail ballots.

How do I Register to Vote?

Residents of Sangamon County are able to register to vote by:

  1. Filling out a voter application form in person at the Sangamon County Election Office.
  2. Registering online through the Illinois State Board of Elections
  3. Printing out the Sangamon County Voter Registration Application and mailing the completed application to the Sangamon County Clerk's office.

Where Can I Vote?

Visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website to find out:

  • where you are registered to vote
  • where your polling place is located
  • all of your voting districts

Residents of Sangamon County may also use the County Clerk's website to find where they can vote and view a sample ballot. 

To Qualify To Vote You MUST:

  • Be a United States Citizen
  • Be at least 18 years old (some 17 year-olds may vote in the General Primary, Consolidated Primary or Caucus)
  • Live in your election precinct at least 30 days
  • Not be convicted and incarcerated
  • Not claim the right to vote anywhere else
