In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day and Veteran’s Day, the Chatham Area Public Library will host World War II veteran and author Vincent Speranza of Auburn at 6 pm on Wednesday November 13.
Speranza will tell his gripping and inspiring story of this life during the war and since. He grew up on Staten Island, part of a large and colorful Italian family. Following Basic Training, he became a paratrooper and joined the 101st Airborne Division just prior to the Battle of the Bulge, where the unit became famous for its defense of Bastogne. Speranza is a stirring speaker and author of the book Nuts!: A 101st Airborne Division Machine Gunner at Bastogne.
Mr. Speranza will have his books for sale and will be available to sign them after the talk.
The Chatham Area Public Library District provides materials, services, programs, and access to technology to help library users meet their lifelong learning, literacy, and recreational needs. The Chatham area has been a destination for all ages, including young families and seniors for over 30 years.
