Chatham, IL - Through a generous donation of seeds from our local Ace Hardware, the Chatham Area Public Library is offering to mail free seeds to those in the Chatham community.  For years, these seeds have been part of the Library’s Seed Library, and have been available to be picked up at the Library each Spring. However, with the closure of the Library building due to the Stay-at-Home Order, the Seed Library cannot exist in that way this year. This year, the Library will be offering a new Seed Library format - Seed Sending. “We recognize the importance of gardening, especially for those who would like to learn about growing their own food.  While our doors are closed, we are still here to provide resources to our community during this time of social distancing,” said the Library’s Director, Amy Byers.

If you’re interested in having seeds mailed to you, simply go to our website at www.chathamlib.org/seed-sending-request-form and fill out the request form. The Library will mail the seeds directly to you! They will take requests until all seeds have been sent. Each request will be mailed a variety of floral, vegetable, and/or fruit seeds. The Library is grateful to partner with Ace Hardware in Chatham and thanks them for their generosity. Please email Megan Freeman at [email protected] with any questions.
