Our Summer Reading program, offered each summer, is designed to encourage people of all ages to keep reading during summer months.
Registration opens in May, and the program runs from June 1 through July 31. Participants read books, audiobooks, comics, or graphic novels of their choosing and log their reading using the Beanstack website, http://chathamlib.beanstack.org, or the Beanstack Tracker app (apple | android). Younger children win prizes, and participants from 7th grade and up enter into weekly prize drawings.
We typically start the Summer Reading Program season with a big Kick-Off Event for families to acknowledge the beginning of a summer full of reading and fun.
Rubber Ducky Club
Children from birth through age 3 can participate in the Rubber Ducky Club from June 1 - July 31. When they read 30 books with a family member, they will receive a rubber duck as a reward!
Children's Summer Reading Program
For readers age 4-12:
- 4-8 year olds log minutes of reading and receive prizes after each 100 minutes read.
- 8-12 year olds log minutes of reading and receive prizes after each 150 minutes read.
- For children who are either 8 or 12 years of age, families choose the one challenge that best suits them.
- Sign up begins May 1st. You can create an account and sign-up on Beanstack, our online Reading Tracker website at https://chathamlib.beanstack.org or on the mobile app (apple | android).
- Readers can log their minutes and redeem prizes between June 1 - July 31.
Teen and Adult Summer Reading Program
For readers in 7th-12th grade AND adults:
- Readers log each book they have read. For each book read, they will receive virtual tickets to enter a raffle for the chance to win gift cards. For each book logged, readers will also be automatically entered into the grand prize drawing.

- You can log your books between June 1 - July 31, 2021.
